3. Back on May 9th, , Richard recorded an original composition entitled "Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey" which ended up as the b-side of his top ten hit "Good Golly Miss Molly." A decision was made to combine his original version of "Kansas City" (with his "bye-bye, baby, bye" section) with "Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey," complete with the staccato introduction.

We basically mix it, we get happy with the sound of it — we've still got the plates and everything here — you make it sound like the mix and then you have to 'de‑mix' it. Every era has its own challenge. When you get to the end [ie. the Abbey Road album] it's a little easier because everything went to 8‑track.

First recorded in by Little Willie Littlefield, it had the title “K.C. Loving”, but the song would not became a #1 hit until seven years later when it was.
